Striking It Rich – Treasures from Gold Mountain is a young adult historical novel about Chinese during the California Gold Rush. In the story two children, while visiting their grandparents’ old store outside of Oakland, discover some letters that were written by the Chinese miners back in the 1850’s. As the grandmother reads them the letters, they “meet” these early Chinese pioneers and discover a rich sense of their own history and heritage.
